In November 2024, Billy visited Walsall College's creative department, marking the beginning of an exciting collaboration as part of our Paths You Walk project, funded by The Heritage Lottery Fund. With a strong passion for expanding young people’s career aspirations, Billy is committed to encouraging students to think beyond traditional paths and explore new creative opportunities.
As part of this initiative, Walsall College students will play an integral role in bringing the project to life. A student panel of six members will be formed to select transcriptions for interpretive materials and illustrate chosen segments for display at launch events and exhibitions.
Additionally, 18 students will receive training and skill development, including hands-on experience on a production set. Exciting new opportunities have also emerged in areas such as website creation and marketing support, further expanding the scope for student involvement.
A key milestone in this collaboration was presenting the project to Walsall College's creative departments. This one-day session, designed for both students and lecturers, highlighted the significance of heritage preservation, provided an in-depth look at the project’s goals, and outlined the many ways students could contribute through volunteer roles.
By engaging the next generation of creatives in this heritage-focused project, we aim to inspire, educate, and provide invaluable real-world experience—empowering students to take bold steps toward their futures.
